For  Families

What is Lunar Challenge About?

National research has consistently shown that the number one influence on a student's success is the level of parent involvement in education.

It's About the Possibility....

For Kids:

• Of hanging out with your friends and their families
• Of learning something cool
• Of going to parts of your school never before seen
• Of having fun building things

For Parents:

• Of sharing quality time with your child
• Of helping your child to be successful
• Of finding other families with goals like yours
• Of learning about good education by doing it

Hey, who says learning has to be boring? How would you like to be chosen among the first astronauts to go back to the moon? NASA and the International Lunar Colony Association want you! Got four nights you can spend together at your school?  Ask your teacher or principal to get involved with Lunar Challenge. You can print the page About the Program (pdf) to take to them and get things started in your neighborhood.

Let us highlight YOUR idea of the first lunar colony!

Here's What Parents Had to Say:

“Very fun for parent/student team. End result was great!”

“This was a good experience and a nice way for my daughter and I to have some one on one time while still helping her to learn.”

”This isn’t like the science I used to do in school!”

Kids' Comments:

“When I was in the Lunar Challenge I liked to build things. We shared our ideas about how to make the things that we needed like showers, toilets, and the barber. We helped each other when we were making those things. We were very proud of our job because everyone came to see our job and they were saying, ‘Wow, that’s cool’”.

"It showed us how we could live on the moon if we had to.  It was exciting when we linked up."
